NNPC Renaissance JV Scholarship – How Nigerian 200-Level Students Can Claim N200,000 Every Year

This Oil Company Scholarship Will Pay N200,000 Into Your Account Every Year Until You Finish University

Let us cut straight to the point.

You are a Nigerian undergraduate. You know how it is. School fees go up every year. Your department has a new levy every semester. Data is expensive. Transport from the hostel to faculty and back costs money you sometimes do not have. And somewhere in the middle of all this, your parents or guardians are doing their best but the pressure is real.

Now imagine this. An oil company announces that it will credit N200,000 into your bank account every single year for the rest of your undergraduate programme. Not once. Every year. As long as you are still in school and you are keeping your grades reasonable.

That is exactly what the NNPC Renaissance JV Scholarship 2026 is. And if you are currently in 200 level at any accredited Nigerian university, you need to put down whatever you are doing and read this page carefully.

The application portal opened on April 30, 2026. The deadline is May 31, 2026. That means you do not have time to be relaxed about this.

Who Is Behind This Scholarship and Why It Is Legitimate

The first question any sensible Nigerian student asks when they hear about a scholarship is: is this real or is this another WhatsApp scam?

Fair question. Because we have all seen those posts. “Apply now and win N500,000 scholarship, click this suspicious link.” Then someone loses money or their data gets harvested.

This one is different. The organisation behind this scholarship is Renaissance African Energy Company Limited, which is the operator of the NNPC/Renaissance/TotalEnergies/AENR Joint Venture. We are talking about NNPC Limited, which is the Nigerian National Petroleum Company. We are talking about TotalEnergies, the French energy giant that has been operating in Nigeria since 1962. We are talking about Eni, the Italian energy multinational with decades of Nigerian operations.

These are not small players. They are not going anywhere. And their scholarship is processed through Scholastica, a well-known and trusted scholarship management platform that processes oil and gas company scholarships in Nigeria.

The application link is candidate.scholastica.ng/schemes/NNPCRENAISSANCEJV2026. That is the official portal. The application is completely free. Nobody is asking you for money, and if anyone approaches you claiming to be a representative who can help you apply for a fee, that person is lying to you. Renaissance has officially stated that they do not assign representatives or agents to assist applicants.

The Two Types of Awards: Which One Are You Applying For

The NNPC Renaissance JV Scholarship comes in two categories and understanding this difference before you apply is important.

National Merit Award: This One Is for Every Nigerian Student

If you are a Nigerian citizen studying full-time at any accredited university in Nigeria and you are currently in 200 level, the National Merit Award is open to you. It does not matter which state you are from. It does not matter which university you attend or what course you are studying. As long as your university is accredited, you can apply under this category.

This is the main category that most students will be applying under.

Areas of Operation Merit Award: This One Is Specifically for Four States

If you are an indigene of Bayelsa State, Delta State, Imo State, or Rivers State, you have a second option available to you. These are the states where Renaissance operates, and as part of its social performance commitment to host communities, the company reserves this special category for students from those areas.

Being from one of these states does not mean you cannot apply for the National Merit Award. But the Areas of Operation category exists as an additional entry point. Students from Bayelsa, Delta, Imo, and Rivers who are applying under this category will need additional documentation confirming their indigeneship, which we will cover in the documents section below.

Do You Qualify? Check This List Carefully

Before you rush to open the portal, confirm that you meet all the requirements. Missing even one of these criteria means your application will not succeed.

You must be a Nigerian citizen. This scholarship is strictly for Nigerians.

You must be registered as a full-time undergraduate student at an accredited Nigerian university. If you are on part-time, sandwich programme, or any distance learning arrangement, you do not qualify. Full-time, on-campus students only.

You must be in 200 level for the 2024/2025 academic session. This is where many students get confused. You need to currently be in your second year for the 2024/2025 academic session. If you are in 100 level, this scholarship is not for you this cycle. If you are in 300 level or above, this scholarship is also not for you in this category.

You must not be receiving any other scholarship from any oil and gas company. If you are already a beneficiary of NNPC, Shell, Chevron, Seplat, TotalEnergies, or any other oil and gas company scholarship nationally or internationally, you cannot apply for this one. You can only hold one at a time.

That is it. Four requirements. If all four apply to you, proceed.

What Documents to Gather Before You Even Open the Portal

Here is advice that can make the difference between a complete application and a failed one. Gather every document before you touch the Scholastica portal. Nigerian students have a habit of opening application portals to check things out, then getting stuck halfway because a document is missing, then rushing and uploading something that is blurry or incorrectly named.

Prepare these documents properly before you begin:

Passport Photograph With White Background

This is not a selfie. Not a photo you took against your dormitory wall. This is a formal passport photograph taken at a professional studio with a white background. The size specification is 450 pixels by 450 pixels. If you are taking it digitally, ask the photographer to give you a copy in that size. The photo must not be more than three months old.

School ID Card

Your current student identification card from your university. It must be valid, clear, and show your name, matric number, and university clearly.

University Admission Letter or JAMB Admission Letter

Either your university’s official admission letter or your JAMB UTME or Direct Entry admission letter. This confirms your admission into your undergraduate programme.

Proof That You Are in 200 Level

This is your result from your first semester or second semester in 200 level, or an official transcript showing your academic progression. The transcript must be signed and stamped by your Head of Department, Examinations Officer, or any other authorised university official. An unsigned or unstamped transcript will not be accepted.

WAEC, NECO, or GCE O’Level Result

Your secondary school result showing your five credit passes including English Language and Mathematics.

Bank Account Details

You will be required to provide a bank account number for scholarship disbursement. Make sure this is your own personal account in your own name. Not your parent’s account. The name on the bank account must match the name on your other documents.

For Areas of Operation Applicants Only

If you are applying under the Areas of Operation Merit Award as an indigene of Bayelsa, Delta, Imo, or Rivers State, you need two additional documents: a letter of identification signed and stamped by the Chairman of your Local Government Area and a letter of identification signed and stamped by the President General of your Community Development Association or equivalent community leadership body. Both letters should be addressed to the Manager, Social Performance, Renaissance African Energy Company Limited, Industrial Area, Rumubiakani, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

How to Apply for the NNPC Renaissance JV Scholarship Step by Step

Once you have gathered every document, here is the step-by-step process.

Step One: Open the Application Portal

Go to candidate.scholastica.ng/schemes/NNPCRENAISSANCEJV2026 on your browser. This is the only official application portal. Do not apply through any other website or link.

Step Two: Create Your Account

Click Register to create a new account. Enter your personal email address. Check your inbox for an activation email and click the link to verify your account. Then return to the portal and log in with your email and password.

Step Three: Complete Your Application Form

Fill in four main sections: personal information, educational information, bank account information, and other required information. Take your time on each section. Do not rush.

Step Four: Upload Your Documents

Upload each required document in the correct format and size. Before moving on from each upload, view the document to confirm it uploaded correctly and is legible. If you can read every detail clearly in the uploaded version, it is fine. If it is blurry, blacked out, or cut off, upload it again.

Step Five: Confirm That All Names Match

This is extremely important. The name you entered on your application must match the name on your ID card, on your admission letter, on your result, and on your bank account. Even a difference between “Adeola” and “Adaeze” in the middle name field can cause problems. Check this before you submit.

Step Six: Submit and Keep Your Confirmation

After reviewing everything carefully, click Apply Now to submit. You will receive a confirmation SMS and email. Keep both. Screenshot both. Your application is registered.

What Happens After You Submit

After the portal closes on May 31, Renaissance will review all applications. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a proctored Computer-Based Test. This is an aptitude test conducted under supervision and only shortlisted candidates will be told about it via email and SMS.

This is why your phone number and email must be active throughout this period. Missing that notification means missing the test. Missing the test means no scholarship.

After the CBT, further selection stages will follow before final winners are announced. Only candidates who successfully pass each stage will be informed.

Tips That Will Give Your Application a Stronger Chance

Apply Today, Not on May 30

Every year, applications crash on the last day because hundreds of thousands of people are submitting at the same time. If you apply on May 29 or May 30 and the server is down or slow, your application may not go through. Apply now. The portal is open. There is no advantage to waiting.

Use a Reliable Internet Connection

Do not try to upload documents on 2G or when you are losing signal. Go to a place with stable internet, a school computer lab, a cybercafe, or a location with strong WiFi, and do your entire application in one sitting.

Double-Check Everything Before Submitting

Once submitted, you cannot edit your application on most scholarship platforms. Read through every field before you click that final submit button.

Do Not Pay Anyone

Say it again so it is clear. Renaissance does not use agents. Nobody can help you apply for money. If anyone contacts you on Instagram, WhatsApp, or anywhere else claiming they can process your NNPC Renaissance JV scholarship for a fee, they are a scammer. Block and report them.

Frequently Asked Questions About the NNPC Renaissance JV Scholarship

I am in 100 level. Can I apply?

No. This scholarship is strictly for students in 200 level for the 2024/2025 academic session. Wait until you are in 200 level in the next cycle.

I already have a state government scholarship. Can I still apply?

The restriction is specifically against other oil and gas industry scholarships. A state government bursary or a non-oil-sector scholarship is different. However, read the terms carefully because the wording says any other scholarship from an entity operating in the oil and gas industry. State government bursaries are usually fine but confirm this before applying.

What courses are accepted?

The scholarship does not restrict to specific courses. The National Merit Award is open to undergraduates in any accredited course at any accredited university. There is no course restriction listed for this scholarship as there is for the PTDF.

Will I receive the N200,000 before graduation?

Yes, as long as you remain a full-time student in good academic standing and you continue to meet the scholarship renewal criteria, you will receive the grant annually until you graduate.

Is this scholarship only for science students?

No. Unlike some oil company scholarships that specify STEM courses, the NNPC Renaissance JV National Merit Award is open to all courses. Arts, social sciences, law, medicine, engineering, and everything else is eligible under the national category.

N200,000 a Year Is Not Small Money for a Nigerian Student

Think about what N200,000 means practically for a Nigerian undergraduate. That is school fees for most state university courses. That is your accommodation for a semester. That is data, transport, textbooks, and a little peace of mind combined.

And this award is renewable every year until you graduate.

The portal is open. The deadline is May 31. You have all the information you need right here. All that is left is for you to gather your documents, open that portal, and apply.

Stop overthinking it. Apply today.
